Good to be Home

We’ve been really trying to get as much done as we can since Jared will be leaving for another tour on July 27th for 2 weeks. So along with our CSA days, and market day, we’ve taken out all of the peas in greenhouse 2, and replaced them with the peppers and eggplant. We’ve harvested, bundled and hung all of our garlic, and there’s also been lots and lots of weeding! We’ve been seeding heat tolerant greens, quick growing summer crops and crops for fall transplant, as well as transplanting the starts that are ready to go. We’ve been harvesting a lot, so there’s new ground available. We’ve got some projects coming up that we’d like to finish while Jared’s still here, There’s duck and chicken housing to be built. We’ve discovered that we have a drake in with our ducks. Pending approval we will be moving him and one lucky lady duck to be a breeding pair over at the lincoln property. We also got an egg! Our first duck egg was gathered this morning.

How exciting about the prospective “honeymoon suite” over at Lincoln and the egg!  Bravo!  I saw some duck eggs for sale at central market in shoreline last night…  I will be happy to help weed, when/if I can get over the vast Puget Sound in between looking for a new place to live.  Love you guys, I am excited for all the activity going on, be careful and stay hydrated!  Smooches

Three farms are starting from scratch.

They are turning the dirt and hoping to be successful enough to turn a profit, and to become a valuable part of their communities as suppliers of organically grown food.

Peaceful Valley is giving them a head start by offering them special pricing as part of this Freshman Farmer program.
