Eddie’s story: I love food! Fresh food, right from the earth. When I witness the joy that the product of my labors provides to the households that I grow for, I am invigorated and inspired! With the right combination of healthy growing practices, CSA marketing, and an accessible location, I’ve seen how a farm can be a powerful community builder.

After eating from my first garden, coming from a supermarket upbringing, it was easy to fall in love. In the ten years of professional farming since then, I’ve become hooked on the challenges and nuances that each year brings. Now I’m starting my own farm, and I look forward to sharing glimpses of the experience with all of you.

Plan for 2009 and beyond: My plan this year is to create a 100 member CSA, offering weekly harvests for 26 weeks, as well as an 8 week “Winter Share” for a smaller number of members. I will also sell at one of our local Farmer’s Markets, seek to provide some produce to the Arcata School District, and operate a garden internship for 6 to 8 people. In the years to come I hope to expand membership to 150 or so, and establish more perennials to offer with the share. Perhaps some poultry down the road.
